In the early part of 1979 Neol Davies was a solo artist called The Selecter sharing the spotlight with The Specials as the first 2Tone single climbed up the U.K. charts to No 6, giving it's name to the musical style.....still inspiring, loved and respected 30 years on. Neol was awarded a unique silver disc for 'The Selecter'. This acknowledged his track's contribution to the iconic first 2 Tone Records single, Gangsters by the Special aka Vs The Selecter by the Selecter and represented record sales of 250,000 copies. Later in 1979, Neol transformed The Selecter into a 7-piece band, playing incredible live shows all over the world. The follow up single 'On My Radio' expanded 2Tone's catalogue of top ten hit records during the historic all-time peak era of record sales. After 30 years, Neol Davies a.k.a The Selecter, sole writer of the hit songs ?ON MY RADIO, TOO MUCH PRESSURE, THREE MINUTE HERO, MISSING WORDS AND CELEBRATE THE BULLET?, returned to the big stage playing London's Koko in January 2011. Classic hits and new songs thundered through the legendary venue at this very special night to great response. A sharp and powerful ten piece band with players of real distinction, including the amazingly charismatic new lead singer, John Gibbons (who has performed with Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, Boy George, amongst many others) brings the new music to explosive life onstage. Neol Davies a.k.a. The Selecter has returned with an album of new songs that speak to audiences of today, bringing the exciting form of the 2Tone style and passion into the 21st century where it continues to resonate. “Neol has re-created the 2Tone past of his band "The Selecter" and revamped it into 2011 and beyond” Vision Media Artist Management: JC Caddy - jc@breakthrusounds.com |
